Why do I need a Wind Mitigation inspection?
It may qualify a property for discounts on windstorm insurance. These discounts reward those who have wind-resistance features on their property that decrease the amount of damage that may occur during a windstorm. Less damage equals less cost to insurance companies. These savings are passed on to the homeowner in the form of wind mitigation discounts.
What is a Wind Mitigation Inspection?
A Wind Mitigation Inspection's purpose is to conclude the suitability of a given structure's construction in the incident of stout winds, such as those in a hurricane.
Wind Mitigation Inspections look for construction features that have been proven to reduce damages in hurricanes, such as a hip roof, concrete block construction, the existence of gable end bracing, shutters and opening protections, the presence of roof to wall connections such as toe nails, clips or hurricane straps, and the presence of a secondary water resistance barrier.
